La trocha que no termina

Felina Press is pleased to present ‘La trocha que no termina’, the first book from Colombian journalist and photographer Ramón Campos Iriarte.

‘La trocha que no termina’ captures some of the defining stories from the past decade of the Colombian conflict.

In late 2016, Colombia captured global attention with the peace agreement between the government and FARC-EP guerrillas: following an arduous negotiation process, fighting eased, and 13,000 rebel combatants transitioned into civilian life.

The country celebrated as the arsenals of the world’s oldest insurgency were melted into peace monuments. But the ruling elite failed to uphold the agreements, and the power void left by the FARC was not filled by the state, giving way to a new phase of violent disputes among the remaining armed groups.

The deep socioeconomic divide between a small privileged class and the vast majority of impoverished, neglected Colombians prevailed: the roots of political violence remained intact, leading to an inevitable relapse.

Campos Iriarte has dedicated his career to documenting the war in Colombia, chronicling its impacts on society and the environment.

This book is a ten-year journey through the territories of our armed conflict, which has now spanned six decades, claimed over nine million victims, and still shows no signs of abating. These stories and photographs aspire to be an invitation to pay attention, and to stop consuming violence as mere spectacle —a contribution to the memory of yet another decade lost on this unending trail, caught between the illusion of peace and the reality of war.
